Little Green Thumbs
I have been coordinating the Little Green Thumbs Program for Sustainable Food Edmonton since 2007. This indoor growing program introduces kids to gardening right in the classroom. In the midst of a cold, snowy winter, the children learn to grow veggies, herbs and flowers from seed to salad. Online registration opens in early June.

Windsor Park Garden Club
Students from Grades 1 to 6 came out once a week to plant gardens in the school's naturescape. We planted a variety of vegetables, flowers and even a native plant garden. Just before the holidays, the children harvested Easter Egg Radishes. The peas were very reluctant to sprout and the lettuce got trampled by very small, exploratory feet.
In the fall, we harvested beans, potatoes, pumpkins and many flowers. A special cake was our final treat for the season. |
